Stay at Kōpī Bush Retreat
Attention to detail is our main focus so that your stay at Kōpī Bush Retreat is comfortable, enjoyable and above all, memorable. Your stay with us will be uniquely tailored to your specific requests and preferences.
Your time on the Chatham Islands can be spent however you wish, but we'd welcome you to get involved in our daily lives collecting kai (food), the production of meats and kai moana (seafood), collecting mushrooms, and more. We would love to share how our food comes from the farm or sea onto our plates that night.
Kōpī Bush Retreat is exclusively yours to enjoy and you will be our only guests.
The master bedroom has a super king bed and the second bedroom has a king bed with a wall division and a set of king single bunks that are steel cantilevered from the wall taking up to 120kg.
The shared bathroom has a walk-in shower and full-sized bath tub and there is a second separate toilet and wash basin.

What to bring
A good rule of thumb is that clothing is always 1 layer more than you'd wear on the New Zealand mainland. We strongly recommend that you also bring the following with you:
Exploring Kōpī Bush Retreat
The farm is a 1200 acre sheep farm inherited from John's parents and we've recently completed building the retreat for your enjoyment. If you haven't seen the show, you can watch the Grand Designs episode that follows the build of our home.
The top 300 acres of land is reserved for hunting as part of our pest control management of wild pigs and cattle. We also have a trapping program to deal with possums, rates and feral cats.
25 acres of land is covered in native bush that's over 150 years old with a walk for you to explore and enjoy the area. Among the trees you'll see are kōpī, karamu, black punga, lancewoods, mahoe, terehina, our very own Chatham Islands Christmas tree and an abundance of native ferns. You're also likely to encounter the Chatham Islands parakeet, warblers, pīwakawaka, tūī and kererū.
